Infrared Marine Surveys and Inspections

Our Infrared marine surveys and inspections provide a range of solutions to identify faults and increase safety on various commercial and recreational marine vessels. Using only the best available IR systems and a range of experience on structural, mechanical and electrical systems makes us the leaders in Infrared Marine surveys and inspections.

Hull and Structural Inspections

Locate delamination, osmosis, and rot. Identify structural issues, moisture and rot in bearers. We efficiently survey all visible structural areas and identify areas of concern that can often be missed with conventional inspection techniques

Deck and Cabin inspection

Locate areas of moisture under teak and conventional decking, Locate rot and areas of moisture entry in cabin areas.

Engine Inspection

We check heat exchanges, oil coolers and after coolers for efficiency and blockages, we identify shaft misalignment, locate exhaust leaks.

Hot spot Locating

We locate hot spots over 220 degrees C that have the potential to ignite flammable fluids and gases as per SOLAS recommendations.

Electrical Inspection

locate hot spots in electrical systems reducing the risk of fire and increasing reliability.

Engine bay leaks

We locate poor seals and bulk head leaks to assist in noise reduction.

Pipe inspection

We locate areas of thinning and internal scale buildup on both steel and fibreglass pipework.

Steel and alloy hull inspection

Locate rust and corrosion behind hard to access areas of steel hulls such as area covered by fuel and water tanking, we can also identify areas of structural modification.

Pre-purchase inspections

We can provide full or partial infrared marine surveys, we will work in conjunction with traditional marine surveyors during normal pre-purchase surveys to minimize haul out costs and separate sea trials.

The above image is of an area of de-bonding between the twin ply skins. We can efficiently inspect and id issues on entire hulls.

The above image is an area of moisture located under teak decking. Water entry under teak decking can often be very challenging to locate, we offer a fast efficient inspections to locate areas of concern. We use conventional moisture meters to confirm findings.

The above image is of an area of moisture under teak decking. Conventional inspection methods can very often miss faults such as this which over time if left untreated can often turn to structural rot.

It is estimated that 60 percent of engine room fires are initiated by exposed hot spots over 220 degrees C igniting oil or fuel leaks. We survey marine engines and identify there spots so simple insulation repairs can be made to avoid catastrophic events and costly engine room fires.

Marine cooler inspections, We ID blocked oil coolers, heat exchangers, after coolers and fuel coolers as well map efficiency under various load conditions to assist in the diagnostic of cooling issues.
